Stockpile Days (Snow Days)
Hickman County Schools allocates 11 Stockpile Days each year to account for inclement weather closures. These days are pre-earned and designated as full instructional days within the school calendar. Even when physical school buildings are closed, these days represent protected educational time and are counted toward the state-mandated instructional requirements.
Purpose of Hybrid Days
Once the initial 11 Stockpile Days have been exhausted, Hybrid Days are implemented to maintain educational continuity. These are active learning days designed to:
Protect Instructional Time: Ensure the school year is not extended and that learning objectives are met.
Ensure Equitable Access: Provide students with both digital and paper-based options to continue their curriculum remotely.
Maintain Engagement: Keep students academically active when in-person instruction is not possible due to weather or other emergencies.
Attendance & Chronic Out of School
Attendance on Hybrid Days is mandatory. Students are marked present when they return completed packets, log in digitally, or confirm participation with their teacher. Because attendance is documented, Hybrid Days count toward Chronic Out of School (COS) calculations. Participating helps protect your child’s education and prevents them from being marked chronically absent.
